It is a bit weird, though, that - except for the lead singer - the band that actually plays the song doesn't appear in the video.

Before playing This Too Shall Pass at their video release party the other night, OK Go's lead singer, Damian Kulash, made a prediction:

We are going to be running from this song for the rest of our lives.

Different scales here, of course, but there's something about this video that has me ready to run, too.

That thing's the reason I didn't sleep this past Christmas Eve.

The musicians are Tweed. They headlined our second music festival. And they played that song because they know how much my cousins and sister and I love Ween.

But Giuls missed it. She was peeing.

So, four months later, we borrowed a producer and recording studio from The Spinto Band and recreated the best we could.

On Christmas morning, I put an envelope under the tree. Inside was a strip of paper with a handwritten YouTube URL.

Last time I saw them was many years ago in faraway Providence, Rhode Island. I was about to write my memory of that show, but I realized I've already written it. Pretty silly night back then. We're hoping for something similar tonight.

I'm still not sure how (or if) a wagon wheel rocks, but I love the microphone, the sideburns that don't fit the suit, and the shot of the ticket stand, the nodding head, and the empty carnival in the background.

That was one of many awesome covers that featured prominently in the muzfest last weekend.

And has anybody else noticed something of a southbound bias in musical train similes? There must be something that happens like a northbound train...

After I sent it to Jon, he told me the Paul Simon fan in him was "bubbling."

Exactly.

Made me wonder what a band should do when, halfway though a show, the audience is still a little dance shy.  Tune everything out and play for the music itself?  Rock it hard for the handful of fans that are going crazy?  Or pay close attention, rethink the song list, take the tempo down a notch, get people swaying, and build from there?

I thought Spinto had a chance to slow down and reengage on Friday.  They sped it up instead.  And it didn't work.

But Pumpkins and Paisley, track 8 on Moonwink and a free download on Amazon, did.

For me anyway.  And, apparently, for YouTube as well.  They featured the video today.
